first bike milestone passed

I made it up the big hill without stopping or getting off my seat! It was a picture perfect evening commute: no strong headwind, sunny, and warm. I put my bike into low gear and just kept pedaling. I'll see if I can repeat this feat next week.

I biked to work on Thursday and Friday and discovered that I am not quite ready to ride two days in a row. On Friday, I spent a good portion of my ride in granny gear. On Thursday evening, I tripped over my own foot or my bike while walking to the BART station and totally bit it. A very concerned gentleman came over and asked, "Are you okay?" The sense of alarm in his voice indicated that my fall must have been spectacular. In my haste to leave the scene, I don't know if I properly thanked that man. Fortunately, I had my cycling gloves and helmet on, but I was more concerned about my bike than me. I am happy that both bike and rider are fine. But, that's the second time that stupid sidewalk has gotten me.
